Khan Chacha in Khan Market has gone on from being a hole-in-the-wall joint selling freshly grilled kebabs for takeaway -- or the benefit of those, who would furtively sip their poison from a hip flask-- to an almost-posh place with proper interiors. They still retain their paper plates, but I do resent the attempt at sophistication. Street food should remain on the streets and not within expensive pieces of real estate! Regardless of such technicalities, Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni, was quite at home tucking away Khan chacha's succelent seekhs, on a recent trip to Dhoni. Alas, he was accompanied by Navneet Kalra, the restaurateur who now owns Khan chacha and not Khan Chacha himself, who chose to stay away. BTW, this blogger can take credit for having discovered KC, a decade ago, when a friend took me to the unknown eatery. I did a review in the Indian Express, calling the man Khan Chacha, as Moinak, our friend had (there was no board outside naming it thus) and it seems the name just took off! Oh! for self indulgent writing...
